Wow, what a great weekend.  The Saints win their first ever Superbowl and the victorious Drew Bree's photo with his son says it all.  Letterman, Leno and Oprah unite for a very entertaining Superbowl ad.  The Tea Baggers have Sarah Six Pack over to speechify.  But of course, Sarah Smuggness condemns Obama for his teleprompter use and then scribbles crib notes on her hand (sometimes called the IPalm) so she won't have to use that nasty teleprompter.  But some lefty activist catches her cheating on camera.  And Sarah threatens she may run for Prez in 2012?  Now, among a few MSM media types, Mrs Greenspan is helping to publicize the cheating event: 


Andrea Mitchell mocked Sarah Palin on MSNBC's "Daily Rundown" Monday morning by appearing on-air with notes written on her hand.  Palin was caught over the weekend reading notes off her hand at the Tea Party Convention in Nashville.  Mitchell said that was "one of the most interesting things" from Palin's appearance over the weekend, and showed off the notes scribbled on the inside of her own hand.  "Daily Rundown" co-host Chuck Todd attempted to defend Palin, saying, "We've all done notes."

But Mitchell said that Palin's "cheat sheets" were damaging in that she had described President Obama as a "charismatic guy with a teleprompter."  "If Mitt Romney had notes on his hand, wouldn't we take it pretty seriously?" Mitchell asked Todd and co-host Savannah Guthrie.  "She does, sort of, get played... she has different rules," Todd stammered.

A proposal by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker to limit bank's proprietary trading will be either be dropped or significantly modified in the Senate, lawmakers and staffers told dealReporter," Financial Times is reporting.

A spokeswoman to Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Kirstin Brost, pushed back on the report. It is simply false to assert, said Brost, that any decision has been made. "I don't know who Deal Reporter spoke to, but I speak for Chairman Dodd and Dodd is going to fight for the strongest bill he can get," she told HuffPost in a statement. "He is giving the Volcker proposal careful consideration. We are having two major hearings this week with Chairman Volker and the Treasury Department to do just that."

Wow, if this is true, I'm sure glad this dinosaur Chris Dodd will soon be retiring from the Senate. 

It's whack jobs decisions like not going through with REAL reform that gives DEMS the reputation of being super whimps.  This would definitely tilt the 2010 elections and give DEMS a bad name. Can't believe he'd rather take the money than help the people... huh? Wait. What am I saying...?  But of course that's what the jerks done for all years! That is what most elected congress critters do... I guess everyone of us needs to incorporate just to get attention from now on.

Rightfully so, there is a growing chorus of opposition to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke.  Of course this was George W Bush's man to replace Alan Greenspan... er uh,  Andrea Mitchell's husband... right?  No conflict of interest here.. humm, how cozy is this?

If Bernanke is not confirmed before his term expires, Fed Vice Chairman Donald Kohn would probably step in as chairman and run the central bank on a temporary basis.

W.T.F?  Andrea Mitchell should be fired for her comment today labeling, or identifying Bernanke as a "scapegoat."   Huh? 

Ben Bernanke a scapegoat, or incompetent and complicit? I'd say the latter. No doubt her political and so-called non journalistic bias should be rewarded by booting her sorry, fat ass to the curb.  Alan must be proud, just like DickLESS Cheney each time his pit bull daughter is unleashed.  Oh, I'm sorry.  That was an insult to pitt bulls everywhere.  No pit bill is that ugly or disgusting.

A Republican senator said Tuesday that documents showing Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernake covered up the fact that his staff recommended he not bailout AIG are being kept from the public. And a House Republican charged that a whistleblower had alerted Congress to specific documents provide "troubling details" of Bernanke's role in the AIG bailout.

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.), a Bernanke critic, said on CNBC that he has seen documents showing that Bernanke overruled such a recommendation. If that's the case, it raises questions about whether bailing out AIG was actually necessary, and what Bernanke's motives were.

A letter Bunning sent Monday to Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) also refers to an "[e]mail exchange regarding restructuring of assistance to AIG, initiated by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner" in March 2009.

Senators will be voting on Bernanke's confirmation for a second term in the coming days. But only senators on the Banking Committee have had access to documents that illuminate just what decisions he made and how he made them. And that access only came after Bunning publicly complained that Dodd and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) were the only members of the committee could see them.

Meanwhile, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who has been investigating the AIG bailout in his role as ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said that a whistleblower has informed him of "troubling details" of Bernanke's role in the bailout.

There may be nothing incriminating in the documents, but without access to them, they will be voting entirely i9n the dark.  This needs to be investigated to the fullest, not glossed over.

While companies still won't be able to give directly to federal candidates, they'll be able to spend billions on attack ads, robocalls, and direct mail. You know, just like you and I are free to do.

Chief Justice "I Gave at the Office" Roberts claimed over and over during his hearing that he would respect precedent, exercise restraint, and issue narrow rulings. Well, we got to see the real John Roberts today. He'll gladly set aside principle and precedent whenever it suits his ideology, or fills his pockets with much needed campaign money for his friends and allies. After all he truly cares about equal rights, for his party, you see. It's just that some rights are more equal than others... and the further right the better... RIGHT?  God help us all... if you thought the rich were getting richer while the poor... just wait and see... it'll be justice for the rich only and the rest of us can all go eat cake.
WTF?  President "Milque Toast" Wants A Fight?  Now, after they've already won... now?  President Barack Obama stepped up his campaign against Wall Street on Thursday with a far-reaching proposal for tougher regulation of the biggest banks.

"We have to get this done," Obama said at the White House. "If these folks want a fight, it's a fight I'm ready to have."  Uhhh, didn't you say the same thing about healthcare reform, Gitmo, Illegal wiretaps, and countless other issues?  Seriously, and now you want us to believe you?

It was a stern, populist lecture from the president to Wall Street for what he perceives as its abandonment of Main Street. Obama said the government should have the power to limit the size and complexity of large financial institutions as well as their ability to make high-risk trades.

President "Out of Touch" with everyone but Wall Street Money, it's about 363 days to late to try and play New Sherriff in town Barry! You had your chance and blew it while you and your advisors played footie with the Big Wall Street Boys and forgot all about us, the foot soldiers that gave you the big victory.

Uh huh, so now, you want us to believe you've come back from the dark side? You were blinded by your own brilliance Barry. It's too bad your forsaken those of us that carried your water... now, you can carry you own. You have no one to blame but your own ego and bad judgment (Rahmm to name just one bad, no, make that idiotic pick).
Scale  Back Healthcare Reform?  That is what many squeamish DEM leaders are saying.

In my humble opinion, too many in the party are skittish about signing on to legislation that has supposedly grown politically unpopular. Unpopular because to many in doesn't go far enough, or do enough, and to others it's should never have even been proposed.  A handful of House Democrats are expressing unease about the prospect of passing the Senate's bill pro forma. Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), on Tuesday night, warned that it would not be "fair and prudent" for his colleagues to move forward on health care until the body's newest senator was seated.   What the ---?  Who gives a shiite if the naked guy who owns a truck is seated or not?  Thousands are dying because they have no health care and this wuss is concerned about being Nice, nice?  Grow a pair Webb.

It a bit pathetic the way the DEMS are behaving already.  In fact, here is what one DEM in power had to say about the health care debacle:  "There are people in the Senate who thought that Republicans would come to us in good faith on issues," said one Senate aide. "This should convince them that that's not the case. Their interest is to win and for us to lose."   DUH?  Who are these genuises...?

In this case DEM voters need to seriously consider rolling back on the number of incumbents voted in the next few election cycles... depending on how they vote with regard to Healthcare REFORM?   

In other words, the wankers that feel the need to scale back need to be scaled back themselves.  I'm fed up with these gutless wonders... with 40, or now 41 votes the Republithugs are stronger than these spineless lumps called DEMS.

Apparently Martha Coakley is such a crappy candidate,  she was overtaken by a naked guy who owns a truck?  The only good news out of Mass is turnout was HIGH... which improved the over all numbers so she wasn't slaughtered. 

Ted Kennedy was sick for years.  He damn near died at least once in the last year or so before he finally passed on.  It's not like there was no warning that a good solid candidate needed to be in the wings folks.  He was in office 46 years and the best we could do for an understudy was this... Coakley dud?

Who is the DNC chairman and exactly what's he been doing for the last few months?  Is the Mass Democratic party the worst ever... YEAH!  Wow, and all this time I thought the worst  state Dem party was that of New Mexico!  Turns out NM is only second worse thanks to Massachussetts. 

OK, we lost yet another one... so who's to blame... why?  Who cares.  There is enough blame to go around, but there seems to be a central core to the mood of late.  Yes, many Americans are upset and frustrated.  Unfortunately not everyone is upset and frustrated by the same issues... and the centrist in Obama wants it to be that everyone is thinking the same way when they are NOT! 

In fact, Mr. O'Bama has done more to cause an exodus from the Dem party than anyone since Jimmy Carter (Cater is a man I personally liked and still like a great deal, but who tried to be too many things to way too many).

So does that sound familiar? I personally like Barry too, but he has chosen poor advisors, poor polices and listens to none but his inner circle which is way too narrow.

No doubt, he has forsaken those of us who elected him and he let's Rahmm "who needs the left" run too much of the show.

Obama is more to blame for our current woes than anyone else, but Coakley shares much of the Mass loss blame. Well for that matter the Dem party both national and statewide share just as much and maybe equally.

I ask, just how could Kennedy's legacy be tarnished more than with the naked guy in a truck shooting off his mouth in the Senate? Everyone mentioned above, especially Obama should hang their heads in shame.

Sorry, but Obama is a huge disappointment... are we finally all agreed? Or are there some that are still blindly following the "all talk express"?  We need a new leader come election time...  what's that guys name from Wisconsin... Feingold?

Prices on a growing number of prescription medications have ballooned in recent years as consolidation in the drug industry leaves fewer companies manufacturing niche medications.

Congressional investigators say the number of extraordinary price hikes on drugs doubled between 2000 and 2008. The drugs affected are mostly specialty medications but also include some popular products like Bayer's antibiotic Cipro and the Eli Lilly schizophrenia treatment Zyprexa).

 In other words, it's all hat, no rodeo.

For almost the entirety of the health care debate, the Obama Administration has relied on economist Jonathan Gruber to make the public case for its idea of reform - even the most unpopular parts. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration has failed to disclose that it paid the same economist more than $780,000.  WHY? 

Why would the man who campaigned on giving the White House back to its people, who said transparency is the key, etc..  So, why would that administration revert back to the Bush tactics of keeping us like mushrooms?  Instead of hope, Obama has given us even more room for disillusionment.

Its the story of the Obama Administration's $780,000 "buy-an-economist" scandal... or who is Mr. Jonathan Gruber and why has the White House paid him 788,000.00?  Why is this administration doing so many of the same things the Bush administration did?

The White House responded forcefully Wednesday to former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of President Obama's response to the botched terror attack on Christmas Day.

"It is telling that Vice President Cheney and others seem to be more focused on criticizing the Administration than condemning the attackers," White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on the official White House blog. "Unfortunately too many are engaged in the typical Washington game of pointing fingers and making political hay, instead of working together to find solutions to make our country safer." 

Yo DickLESS Cheney, how many draft deferments did you get all together you chicken hawk, coward?   And one last question you smug piece of Shiite, just who was it that released those Gitmo detainees to go to Saudi Arabia for art therapy... to only then wind up leading the Yemen clan of Al Quaeda?

My God, even Ron Paul, a member of his own party, recognizes just how far off base the DickLESS wonder is with his criticism of Obama on the terrorism topic, Ron Paul said, "I think he had his eight years, and he's caused a lot of trouble for our country and perpetuated a war in Iraq unnecessary and wrong-headed," said Paul. "I would say it would be best he not be so critical right now."

Still, one must conclude even though Ron Paul is a Republican, he is NOT a RepubliTHUG and without the likes of Ron Paul, the Republican Party would be devoid of any and all reason.

King of the Republithugs		 Rush rushed to Honolulu hospital suffering from chest pains.  His condition was described as serious.  The latest reports are that he is resting comfortably.  Good for him... I hope he recovers soon and just as quickly, retires his vocal chords for good.

 Considering our President, I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that President "milquetoast" Obama pays Rush a get well soon visit at the hospital.  Why not?  Hey, they are both there in Hawaii and I'm sure Rush's enormous ego could use massaging.  And just think of the media attention an Obama visit to his highness would bring.

And maybe Berry could bring his Birth Certificate along to show Rush.  Maybe then Mr. Limbaugh would call off the birther dogs.. right?   After all  you know, Obama is still holding out for that bipartisan thing to begin paying real dividends.  Oh yes, you betcha!

"We inherited a recession from President Clinton and we inherited the most tragic attack on our own soil in our nation's history," she told host John King on "State of the Union."

And just how fast did John King intervene to set her straight, to call her out on her attempt to rewrite history? You see, that's the problem. It's that all these corporate news opinionates just let them say whatever they want without pointing out when they are wrong or when indeed they are lying like Carville’s wife. Yes, the same robots who believe that Sarah is qualified to run this nation, will begin repeating this latest fabrication.  Uh huh, just like they did with the Death Panels, the Birther crap and so on and on...  Oh and don't forget Mary, Bush inherited the Iraq war too huh?

Obama Abandoned Health Care Principles - View New Ad


 

The Senate bill cannot be the final bill sent to President Obama's desk for his signature. We have one last chance to fix it.

The Senate bill will shortly head into "conference" with the House bill, where Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama will come up with a final bill by merging the two. Conference is an opportunity to fix what's wrong with the Senate bill and stand up for what's right in the House bill. It is our last chance - we must stand up for what we believe in and demand that our leaders finish health reform right.

Oh yeah, and another broken campaign promise is Guantanamo... it still hasn't been closed nor will it be for another year!

 How Can President Milquetoast look Americans in the eye and truthfully claim Health Care Reform when these Major Flaws still exist?  Someone needs to ask Barry about it.

#1— Deny Americans the choice of a public option. In contrast, the House bill contains a national public option, the key to real competition, greater choice, and lower costs.

#2— Leave insurance unaffordable for some lower income and working people. Both bills require virtually all Americans to buy insurance. But even with the subsidies provided, some families could have to pay up to 20% of their income on health care expenses.


#3— Impose dangerous restrictions on women's reproductive health care. Unfortunately, both bills do this and the House provision is worse. Both versions would be a dangerous step and neither should be in the final bill.

#4— Tax American workers' health coverage to pay for reform. The Senate would pay for part of reform by taxing the hard-won benefits packages of some working Americans. The House, on the other hand, pays for reform with a small surcharge on only the wealthiest Americans—a far better approach.

#5— Allow insurance companies to remain exempt from anti-trust laws. Under current law, insurance companies are actually exempt from laws designed to prevent monopolies and price-gouging. The House bill would fix this, but the Senate bill leaves it in place.
Senator Alzheimer's McCain - the biggest hypocrite known to mankind has proven his worth as a Senator once again.  This elderly imbecile feigned outrage when Al Franken cut LIEberman short the other day saying he had never seen such conduct in over 20 years, etc... remember?  It turns out HE did the exact same thing... but can't remember it... ha ha, what a doofus.  At first, the CSpan tapes couldn't prove it, but their transcripts did.  But alas, the missing C-SPAN footage showing Sen. John McCain preventing a Democratic senator from getting an extra 30 seconds to finish a speech has been found.

"C-SPAN library video content created prior to 2003 was originally captured on two-hour VHS videotapes which were later digitized for permanent storage in our archives," the broadcaster said in a statement. "This process is occasionally susceptible to small errors that can occur at top-of-the-hour tape changes. An example of this type of error in the digital online file from
Oct. 10, 2002 at noon ET."

The recovered footage shows Sen. Dayton asking for an extra 30 seconds to complete his speech. Sen. McCain's voice can be heard off-camera: "I object."

"Either Sen. McCain cannot remember that he himself objected to a senator getting an extra 30 seconds to finish his remarks during the Iraq war debate, or Sen. McCain knows perfectly well that this stuff happens in the Senate," Rachel Maddow said Monday night. "It happens, and he just said it was unprecedented out of sheer hackitude."  McCain is a self serving, memory lacking SOB and still thinks tape doesn't exist, or that he can say anything he wants and the little people will believe it without question.  either way, he's a major league asshole Republithug!

I have to agree with Keith Olbermann.  The latest Senate health care bill has no public option. No expansion of Medicare. And it does too little to guarantee that uninsured Americans will actually be able afford the coverage they'll be required to purchase.  Former insurance executive Wendell Potter put it best: the bill is "a big bailout to the [health insurance] industry."

Anyone who says this is health care, an expansion of Medicare, or some serious REFORM is an idiot.  What our so called elected officials have done is take a cue from Obama and sold us out.  They should be ashamed of themselves.  At least Mary Landrieu got her price for prostituting her vote... can the rest of the lobbyist spoon fed, ingrates say the same?

AP IMPACT: Science not faked, but not pretty ugly

LONDON — E-mails stolen from climate scientists show they stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data — but the messages don't support claims that the science of global warming was faked, according to an exhaustive review by The Associated Press.

The 1,073 e-mails examined by the AP show that scientists harbored private doubts, however slight and fleeting, even as they told the world they were certain about climate change. However, the exchanges don't undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

The scientists were keenly aware of how their work would be viewed and used, and, just like politicians, went to great pains to shape their message. Sometimes, they sounded more like schoolyard taunts than scientific tenets.

The scientists were so convinced by their own science and so driven by a cause "that unless you're with them, you're against them," said Mark Frankel, director of scientific freedom, responsibility and law at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also reviewed the communications.

Frankel saw "no evidence of falsification or fabrication of data, although concerns could be raised about some instances of very 'generous interpretations.'"

Some e-mails expressed doubts about the quality of individual temperature records or why models and data didn't quite match. Part of this is the normal give-and-take of research, but skeptics challenged how reliable certain data was.

The e-mails were stolen from the computer network server of the climate research unit at the University of East Anglia in southeast England, an influential source of climate science, and were posted online last month. The university shut down the server and contacted the police.

The AP studied all the e-mails for context, with five reporters reading and rereading them — about 1 million words in total!  As usual the right wing nuts are lying about the science and these emails.   Yet, if you ask Sarah "I'll do anything for money" Palin, the emails PROVE the scientists who did the research and believe global warming is partially man made are the liars... you bethca!

 As I predicted, Obama Doesn't Even Mention The Public Option In His Pep Rally On Health Care Speech To Senators... and naturally, Joe LIEberman and all his Repupblithug pals are elated.  Obama spoke for roughly 30 minutes and did not take questions, senators said afterward.  The Huff Post reported that LIEberman was beaming with glee that Obama didn't say a word about the public option.  Obama's reluctance to stand up for the public option is more than annoying for someone that claimed he understood the plight of the middle and lower class family economic conditions.   What is this man's motivation?

What, or who does he stand for... didn't he say that this would be his primary focus and concern... without a real public option what is accomplished? 

Rumor has it that Obama is working behind the scenes with LIEberman on some kind of consensus... just that says it all.  Obama is a pussy and should have never been the Democratic standard bearer... once again Hillary has bigger balls and Feingold, or Dean are better suited than this embarrassment.  In 2012 we need an aggressive leader that will see our agenda to fruition, not this milquetoast whimp who thinks more about partisanship than accomplishing our goals.
Why Surge where Al Queada isn't?

One of the fiercest critics of the proposed surge of U.S. forces in Afghanistan warned on Sunday that the policy would distract America from the pursuit of global al Qaeda networks.

During an appearance on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) demanded that one question be answered when considering the implementation of the president's surge policy: Why send troops where al Qaeda isn't?

Think about this for a moment.  Who benefits most from a Taliban presence?  The Karzais, dumb and dumber.  Without a war and the US dollar, they have no economy except drugs which brother dearest controls.  Obviously, President Hamid Karzai is the one controlling the US dollar, and as long as the war goes on they can keep enriching themselves. Senator Feingold is absolutely right and Obama is absolutely wrong which is why I would voite in a primary against Obama and for Feingold or Dean next time around. Either of them would be better Presidents than President Bipartisan has been up to now. I can't believe I wasted 2 years campaigning for him and the money I gave... well I don't even want to go there.

President Obama's weekly address focuses on the job report numbers that were recently released showing 11,000 people become unemployed in November, a better than expected number. Obama acknowledges that unemployment is still very high and that the public is feeling the pain of recession, but he also sounds an optimistic note, saying "our economy's growing for the first time in a year."

Wow, it's almost like NO news is good news.  I think its a bit sad when just a little blip of HOPE on the radar screen is about all this administration has to gloat about after all this time and talk of helping middle America.  Yes, the economy has a heartbeat again, but guess what OBAMA, WALL STREET never missed a beat, thanks to you and your bumbling stumbling economic Key Stone Kops.... Larry "What's in it for me?" Summers, Timmy "How Much Do You Need" Geithener and whoever else raped the average American to give to the rich.  In case you haven't noticed President Milquetoast, America's main street has taken a back seat for this entire ride and the rich get richer and the poor...?

Well in 20 short years, that's all that will be left, rich or POOR... with no middle class.  And to think you have a chance to do something about it.. but WHAT are you DOING? You sure talked a good talk when campaigning, I mean what great speeches.  NOW President Obama, it's time to act... to actually do something. If you don't, the Republithugs are going to be back in the saddle and with that prospect our HOPE, our cherished CHANGE will never come. Get with Obama.

Your approval ratings have dipped below 50% too.. and if you'd stop playing "footsie" with the Republiuthugs and pay attention to those of us that actually elected you, you might get back over the 50% hurdle President Milquetoast.   Please wake up Barry, times a wasting!  Your lukewarm support for healthcare is only one reason you're getting popularity ratings akin to that of G. Rumsfeld decision let Bin Laden escape: report

Osama bin Laden was within the grasp of US forces in late 2001 and could have been caught if then-defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld hadn’t rejected calls for reinforcements, a hard-hitting US Senate report says.

The report indicates this happened about Dec. 2001, after 9/11, but before the start of the Iraq War.

With bin Laden dead, they would have had even less justification to invade Iraq. Contemptible war criminals, aren’t they? 

The report released by the Democratic staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee blamed the Bush administration for failing to capture or kill Osama bin Laden when the al Qaeda leader was cornered in Afghanistan's Tora Bora mountain region in December 2001. The report, released Sunday, said the situation in Afghanistan presented greater problems today because of the failure to nab bin Laden eight years ago.

Bin Laden had written his will, apparently sensing he was trapped, but the lack of sufficient forces to close in for the kill allowed him to escape to tribal areas in Pakistan, according to the report.

It said former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and top U.S. commander Gen. Tommy Franks held back the necessary forces for a "classic sweep-and-block maneuver" that could have prevented bin Laden's escape.

"It would have been a dangerous fight across treacherous terrain, and the injection of more U.S. troops and the resulting casualties would have contradicted the risk-averse, 'light footprint' model formulated by Rumsfeld and Franks," the report said.

When criticized later for not zeroing in on bin Laden, administration officials, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, responded that the al Qaeda leader's location was uncertain.  And believe it, or not, there are still some Republithugs that want to draft DICK Cheney for President in 2012?  Why?  Didn't he lie enough for them back then?  Oh yeah, remember the Tillman lies?  If these slime buckets would lie about that incident, why wouldn't they lie to cover up their deficiencies in pursuing Bin Laden and his thugs?

Former DNC Chair Howard Dean called on Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn) to resign as chair of Senate Homeland Security Committee if he can't bring himself to oppose a Republican filibuster of health care reform legislation.

Appearing on "The Joe Scarborough Show" on WABC, Dean stressed that he had no problem with Lieberman opposing the bill on its philosophical merits, or lack thereof. But he insisted that it was irresponsible and unprincipled to not allow the legislation to come to an up-or-down vote.

"I think that is a very complicated guy," said Dean. "He does because he says he's a principled guy but there's nothing principled about holding up a bill... If he was a principled guy he'd resign his chairmanship."

"If you are with a caucus you don't owe the leader any vote on any substance," Dean added. "I have no problem with him voting against the public option... You owe it to Harry Reid to allow him to run the Senate. And if you're not willing to do that the proper thing to do is to step aside."

Alas, for those of us that supported Howard Dean back then, it's no surprise that he is standing alone showing real backbone.  And for those of us that supported Obama this last go round, it is terribly disappointing to have a spineless President.  Obama, the spineless wonder has not reformed Wall Street, our financial sector, health care, and is not prosecuting those that raped our constitution and trampled on civil rights.

Question, just what is he doing besides throwing lavish dinners, visiting with any and every lobbyist and ignoring "We The People"?

This President has shown his TRUE preferences long ago and MAIN street isn't one of them. Obama has been the biggest disappointment for as President in my lifetime. I worked tirelessly and spent money I really didn't have to see him elected and for nearly every reason I thought I wanted him to be Prez, (upholding the Constitution, Anti Torture, Healthcare Reform, leveling the playing field by reigning in the financial system that preyed on us all (The TARP critters on Wall St.) and by undoing the Bush Tax Cuts for just the wealthy (ok, but certainly not right away), stopping Wars that are draining our budgets and killing our people, and hell, the list goes on and on.

Almost entirely he's let me down.  I believe Barry is much more interested in getting re-elected than taking any kind of unilateral or bold action to fix any of the inherently broken dynamics of our socio-economic-political system.  And he's way too concerned about bi-partisanship than serving the people who actually elected him.

My God, I hope there are DEMS in the wings I can vote for in a primary, because I won't vote for this man... ever again.

LIEberman Can't Remember Why He Opposes Public

In June, Lieberman said, "I don't favor a public option because I think there's plenty of competition in the private insurance market." That didn't make sense, and it was quickly dropped from his talking points.

In July, Lieberman said he opposes a public option because "the public is going to end up paying for it." No one could figure out exactly what that meant, and the senator moved onto other arguments.

In August, he said we'd have to wait "until the economy's out of recession," which is incoherent, since a public option, even if passed this year, still wouldn't kick in for quite a while.

In September, Lieberman said he opposes a public option because "the public doesn't support it." A wide variety of credible polling proved otherwise.

In October, Lieberman said the public option would mean "trouble ... for the national debt," by creating "a whole new government entitlement program." Soon after, Jon Chait explained that this "literally makes no sense whatsoever."
URGENT we need everyone to get involved!

The Senate starts debating health care next week.  But if it passes without a public option, there's only one person to blame: Harry Reid.

As the majority leader of the Senate, the power to pass a public option is squarely in Reid's hands.  Will Reid let three or four corrupt Senators owned by the insurance industry hold the public option hostage?  Or will he use the reconciliation process to allow a simple majority vote on a public option?

The choice is Reid's and Reid's alone.  Let's make sure he knows it.

During debate in the Senate this weekend, a handful of corrupt Democratic senators like Blanche Lincoln and Mary Landrieu, who have taken big donations from insurance companies, promised to vote against health care if it included a public option.[1]

If Harry Reid can't get them in line for a simple procedural vote, then he can use "reconciliation" and call for a majority vote on the public option.  Otherwise, Harry Reid is using his power as Majority Leader to allow a handful of corrupt senators thwart the democratic process.  We can't let that happen.

   DURBIN: I hope we can move to a point where we satisfy Joe Lieberman’s concerns that this does not end up being a government debt, but creates a public option.

   MR. GREGORY:  But let’s get to a bottom line, which is, is it negotiable? I’ve talked to Senate sources who say there is a backup plan, which is that you ultimately scrap the opt-out option, you put in a trigger, which means that somewhere—there’s no public option; down the road, if there’s not adequate competition, a public plan gets triggered.  That’s how you might get centrist Democrats and mi... it’s how you get Senator Snowe as well, potentially.  Is that negotiable?

   SEN. DURBIN:  There are many variations on the theme.  I am committed to public option.  I think we’ve put together a good bill.  We are open because we want to pass this bill.  At the end of the day we want insurance to be more affordable, we want to stop the insurance industry abuses, we want to give American people a choice in this decision.

   MR. GREGORY:  So the public option is negotiable.

   SEN. DURBIN:  They don’t have to...

   SEN. FEINSTEIN:  Yeah.

   SEN. DURBIN:  It has been.  Putting in the opt-out was clearly a variation on the theme from the beginning.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin has banned Rep. Patrick Kennedy from receiving Communion, the central sacrament of the church, in Rhode Island because of the congressman's support for abortion rights, Kennedy said in a newspaper interview published Sunday.

The decision by the outspoken prelate, reported on The Providence Journal's Web site, significantly escalates a bitter dispute between Tobin, an ultra orthodox bishop, and Kennedy, a son of the nation's most famous Roman Catholic family.

"The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said that he has instructed the diocesan priests not to give me Communion," Kennedy told the paper in an interview conducted Friday.

Any one with any sense has already concluded that Sarah is all about Sarah and not much else.   This just in:  Even Joe "the fake plumber" Wurzelbacher is against a Sarah "serial quitter" Palin run for President in 2012.  Imagine that... 

Seriously, outside of quitting, playing the victim, (that mean ole Katie Couric), patting herself on the back for her bits of catch phrases and simpleton ideals about how the world works... and lying her ass off to sell her steaming pile of SHIITE book, what is she about?  But of course like her delusional fans, she thinks she knows it all... because after all just about all the Queen of Airheads knows comes from FOX news.

Interestingly, or should I say sadly, all the major NEWS networks carried similar stories to that of MSNBC.  I chose only to complain to MSNBC about their lack of journalistic values and integrity. Here is what I wrote:  What kind of schizophrenic news organization is MSNBC when it runs stories like: Sara "I can see Russia from my backyard" Palin saying that she is thankful for the opportunity to write truth and not calling her out for the 18 or so huge lies already revealed in her so called memoirs of TRUTH? Or better yet, the hypocrisy of Rudy Giuliani's current comments on the Obama Administrations trying alleged 9/11 plotters in NYC as opposed to his glowing comments about earlier terrorist trials... by the Republican Admin. and which of course were also staged in NYC?

Seriously, why don't you people (meaning every major mainstream news journalist) have the balls to call out these people the way Comedy Central's Jon Stewart does? He may be the only REAL journalist left alive and practicing in America. It's so very VERY sad that the only person left with a reputation for getting to TRUTH is a comedian doing fake news on a comedy show.  Jon Stewart doesn't sit idly while the lying Repukes spin their tales.  No sir, he calls them out... immediately.  So, why can't ABC, CBS and NBC do the same... why do they protect these lying bastards?  Stewart also took on Lou "I've never met an Hispanic I could respect" Dobbs... check it out:

 UPDATE:  11.28.09 - Serial Quitter quits yet again - Sarah Palin dropped out of a 5k race on Thanksgiving Day in Kennewick, Wash. The former vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor quit the race because she wanted to avoid the crowds that were waiting for her at the end, according to The Tri-Cities Herald.


Palin was 1 of about 3,000 participants. The paper reported that her presence drew a "mass of onlookers." Palin announced that she would be running the race on Twitter.

The former Republican vice-presidential candidate visited nearby Richland, Wash., to spend the holiday with relatives. She said it's good to be back in the Tri-Cities to reconnect with "the roots." Her grandparents, Clem and Helen Sheeran, came to Richland in 1943.

It is bad enough we have REPUBLITHUGS saying NO to any real change, but now the enabler in Chief?   I am sick and tired of Obama breaking promise after promise.  As of now, I will NOT support another BUSH like president.  Transparency huh, where is it?  He was the candidate of change... right?  What change?  Obama is more like BUSH than BUSH!  He has forsaken those of us who campaigned, pledged money and supported his candidacy for all those months and years.  Talk about a major disappointment!

It was no random act of violence.[1] Shawna Forde, the suspected mastermind of the home invasion robbery in which Brisenia and her father Raul were killed, is the leader of the vigilante group Minutemen American Defense and has been tied to the national Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).[2] Both groups have been labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as "hate groups" and have a long record of routinely dehumanizing immigrants and vilifying Latinos.

The problem is bigger than FAIR or any other group. Some members of Congress have been legitimizing these organizations for years—inviting them to testify as "experts"—while the rhetoric coming from these groups has given rise to violence against Latinos, like the killing of Brisenia and Raul Flores.[3] That needs to end now.

FAIR and the Minutemen groups are regularly quoted in the mainstream media—FAIR more than 500 times in 2008—giving them a megaphone to broadcast their hateful beliefs and rhetoric: like FAIR executive director Dan Stein’s claim that "illegal aliens are more prone to criminal activity than the rest of the population," or Minutemen co-founder Jim Gilchrist’s assertion that it is "okay to say ‘rapist,’ ‘robber’ and ‘murderer’" when describing "illegal aliens."[4]

As vile as their rhetoric is, even more disturbing is when our elected representatives applaud their efforts and parrot their messages. Take Ranking Republican Congressman on the House Immigration Sub-Committee, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), a long-time friend of extremist groups, who wrote that a day without immigrants in America would mean "the lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day." Those debunked claims were then repeated hundreds of times by FAIR and others, creating an echo chamber of racism and hate.[5]

Or take Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama), the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, who has likened immigrants to terrorists and child molesters, as well as taking money from a group with white-supremacist ties.[6]

Elected leaders like these, together with their allies in extremist anti-immigrant groups, create a climate of hatred that leads to violence – as evidenced by a recent string of hate-motivated killings across the country [7].

Enough is enough. Please join me in holding members of Congress accountable by demanding they stop legitimizing FAIR and the Minutemen. It takes only a moment:

It's 2009. Democrats have ample majorities in both houses of Congress. President Obama campaigned on the promise to tackle climate change and boost our economy by investing in clean energy.

So why on earth is Congress considering an energy bill that:

  • Would weaken current law, repealing President Obama's authority to crack down on dirty power plants,1 and
  • Doesn't actually require the creation of new solar or wind power? (The Union of Concerned Scientists has concluded that the clean energy standards won't make power companies produce more clean energy than is already in the works.)2

Why? Because Big Oil and Coal have teamed up with conservatives in both parties, and they've been successful in weakening the bill.

These are major flaws, but the bill has a lot of really good provisions, too. The key thing is that Congress can still strengthen it—if there's a public outcry. But we don't have much time: Congress is expected to vote on this bill in less than three weeks.

The petition says: "We need a stronger energy bill to fulfill Obama's vision of a clean energy economy. Congress should strengthen the clean energy standards and restore Obama's authority to crack down on dirty coal plants." 

Congress must change the energy bill to require power companies to produce more clean energy for America. Wind and solar create more than twice as many jobs as coal and oil.3 And Congress needs to hold polluters accountable by restoring President Obama's current authority through the EPA to crack down on global warming pollution from power plants.

The Union of Concerned Scientists analysis finds that the current version of the clean energy standard "won't require utilities to use any more renewable electricity than...would be generated as a result of state renewable electricity standards already in place and the recently enacted stimulus package."4
 

If we just sit back, we'll miss our chance to go big with wind and solar—and we'll lose the jobs those industries would create. Big Oil and Coal will keep getting billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies. And President Obama will be powerless to stop more than 100 new dirty coal plants, which will crowd out the clean energy growth we need to boost our economy.5

There are some good parts of the bill, but these are significant problems. As the Sierra Club's Carl Pope writes, the bill establishes strong long-term goals for cutting carbon pollution and very strong energy-efficiency investments, "but in its present form, it won't do all that's needed. The oil, coal, and dirty-utility interests...were able to prevent enactment of President Obama's much bolder vision...Yes, they will try to kill the green-jobs recovery in its cradle, and yes, they will try to block our clean-energy future."6

Ever so suddenly John McCain  DISCOVERS veterans and defends them against a memo written by a former Bush appointees who warns of extremist right wing types who have left the military, etc.  A very similar memo was written during the Bush administration.  Why didn't McCain speak out then?  Better yet, why did it take him so long to vote for added benefits for veterans?  Where was his voice when Rummy and Bush dragged their feet for armor and body armor in Iraq?

Oh yes, John "Gramps" McCain, what a deceitful piece of smelly excrement.  This lame brain had to be truly pressured to even vote for giving VETS the benefits increase they deserved.  And when the BUSH folks wrote a very similar report where was his outrage?  This lying old bastard needs to be put out to pasture before he pisses himself in public while outright lying to try and stay relevant and completely embarrasses himself and family.  Buy him some new DEPENDS, a new shuffleboard set and then don't let him leave any of his 7 homes.  Say, couldn't his daughter serve out the rest of his term?

What is this… every time I open an email it’s DONATE for this.. donate for that... why?  President Sir, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we win the last election?   

I must get 2 or three email messages a week (from Plouffe, Michelle, YOU, and others from your administration/CAMPAIGN), I say campaign since it seems you are still in campaign mode even though you occupy the highest office in the land.  Instead of doing every thing in your power to appease the renegade DEMS, the so called Blue Dog Democrats and of course the idiot Republicans, you seem to have chosen US, the path of least resistance… we donate more campaign money to get the programs and policies we voted you to enact for us… well, it seems like extortion.  Why after the hundreds of millions we raided during the election campaign isn’t that enough?  You, nor anyone in your administration has ever explained that, or even warned that this was to be the case.  My God President Obama, you have a 60 + approval rating so stop coddling the Republicans and go out and get the Democrats in line.  You are wearing thin on your base with all the requests for money after the fact, and more importantly your recent flip flops… did I mention torture, Illegal spying on American without a warrant and your refusal to get to the bottom of it?  Also, you of all people a Constitutional Lawyer supporting Bush’s executive privilege claim, etc.  Barrack, you want our money, but aren’t doing many of the things you campaigned for… so, I respectfully ask you just how’s that change we can believe in?

The change we voted in was mandated… so why don’t you in the current Obama administration spend more time working on the CONGRESS to enact the change and stop hounding us for EVEN more of our hard earned money.  I’m through giving… I’ve given more than my fair share. 

Every time I receive an email suggesting I call my Senators, Congressperson regarding a vote I agree with I do it like the good little Obama foot soldier I am... isn't that enough?  Since when did Democracy become nothing more than an exchange of money, or who has more to buy Public Relation campaigns?  The fact is we voted in a new President and a Congress with a big majority, now shouldn't that be enough for the power to shift?  Please explain to me why a public relations effort is still required to get your platform enacted.  The election wasn't enough? How is that possible?  Also, just where is the money going?  I have yet to see any details on how it is spent... it just seems that with every new initiative I'm asked to contribute more because of the red Republican menace threaten the Obama agenda.  Seriously, is this really the politics of change, or is it just more of the same with a new brand name?

Oh my God, if the DEMS fall for this one, I'll ... hell I don't know what I'll do.  The CNN headline reads, "  Fast-track budget tool would kill bipartisanship, GOP says."  WHAT?

OK, so after I stopped laughing at the silly suggestion that we've recently experienced bipartisanship in any form or fashion, I asked myself, why would someone at CNN even write such a statement?  Aren't they the most trusted news organization?  Then why would they imply bipartisanship would be lost if the DEMS do what the voters asked for?  Is CNN screwing with us, or what?

It's April 1, 2009, it must be time for the GOP to Make Even Bigger Fools of themselves.

Most appropriately, after unveiling their Budget (here in after referred to as the GOP Fudget), which had no numbers or details the GOP brain trust chose today, April Fools Day to reintroduce their Republican FUDGET alternative.  This time it has a few more details.  Yes, things like gutting Medicare and enacting $4 million in tax cuts primarily for the wealthy -- how very Republican.  It calls for "privatizing" Medicare and much of the same ole same ole we've heard for the last 8 years or longer. 

After ripping the Democratic budget as too expensive, Boehner said that "Republicans in the House will offer a better solution that'll be less on spending, less on taxes and a lot less on debt for our kids and grandkids."

But there was no budget. "Do you guys have a formal budget yet?" asked a reporter.

"Mr. Ryan will outline the Republican budget at 10:30 this morning. And yes we do have it," replied Boehner, referring to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.).

A silence followed, with reporters apparently unsure what to ask next.

Democrats, in contrast, had plenty to say, with Obama officials mocking the Republican document as a sad April Fools prank.

"If you expected a GOP alternative to the failed policies of the past that got our country into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, then I have two words for you: April Fool's," said Kenneth Baer, OMB communications director.

This FUDget is more than an April Fools Joke, it's one of the funniest things I've seen in almost 20 years... it reminds me of the "Contract with America"... now that was comedy.

Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, acknowledges that a federal challenge to November’s elections could take “years” to resolve. But he’s adamant that Coleman deserves that chance — even if it means Minnesota is short a senator for the duration.

A three-judge panel is expected to rule any day now on legal challenges to the November election.

Coleman attorney Joe Friedberg has predicted that Franken will be on top after the court rules, arguing that an appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court could swing the election back in Coleman’s favor.  But what if that doesn’t happen?  Nobody really knows.

As Roland Burris will recall, you can’t take a seat in the Senate without an election certificate from your state. And it’s not clear whether the candidate who’s ahead after the Minnesota Supreme Court rules could get an election certificate from Minnesota if his opponent is seeking review from the United States Supreme Court or challenging the results in a new lawsuit in federal court.

Sen. Charles Schumer, the New York Democrat in charge of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, says that Minnesota gets its second senator as soon as the state case ends.   “Whatever the state Supreme Court decides, as I understand it, the law requires it to be certified,” Schumer says.

Now this is embarrassing.  Instead of the United States cleaning up after itself, the Spaniards are doing it for us. 

The New York Times Reports:  A high-level Spanish court has taken the first steps toward opening a criminal investigation against six former Bush administration officials, including former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, on whether they violated international law by providing a legalistic framework to justify the use of torture of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, an official close to the case said.

The case was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review by Baltasar Garzón, the crusading investigative judge who ordered the arrest of the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The official said that it was “highly probable” that the case would go forward and that it could lead to arrest warrants.

The move represents a step toward ascertaining the legal accountability of top Bush administration officials for allegations of torture and mistreatment of prisoners in the campaign against terrorism. But some American experts said that even if warrants were issued their significance could be more symbolic than practical, and that it was a near certainty that the warrants would not lead to arrests if the officials did not leave the United States.

The complaint under review also names John C. Yoo, the former Justice Department lawyer who wrote secret legal opinions saying the president had the authority to circumvent the Geneva Conventions, and Douglas J. Feith, the former under secretary of defense for policy.

The move was not entirely unexpected, as several human rights groups have been asking judges in different countries to indict Bush administration officials. One group, the Center for Constitutional Rights, had asked a German prosecutor for such an indictment, but the prosecutor declined.

Why hasn't the Obama administration come to grips with this already?  It's a little, no HELL, it's very disappointing!  Of course now that things are getting warmer, and with the specter of a trial looming, maybe President Obama will get off his moderate, bi-partisan ass and do something... maybe?

Talk About Your Republican Hypocrisy -

Just days ago, the Top Republican complained that the Jay Leno appearance and California Town Hall meetings President Obama did were not appropriate.  The implication being that somehow being able to chew gum and walk (multi-tasking) was either shameful or a dereliction of duty.  In fact, Eric Cantor said until the crisis is averted, Obama should do noting else but oversee the financial crisis... right?  Minority Whip goes to Britney Concert, while President Obama does another Town Hall Meeting to explain his budget and what's being done to combat the financial crisis.  God forbid average American citizens are informed.  So who is it that is actually doing the work of the people?

 Alas, the poor narrow minded, inept and impotent GOP, with each new election cycle they are more rudderless and sinking deeper into a circular pattern. It's a pattern, or a motion best described as if to have been flushed down a drain.

 If you look closely, one by one, as they attempt to swim the dangerous political waters of George W Bush's failed policies and economy, their little feet and legs just a kicking, they will look at you while turning and show their creepy, grotesque faces and lying eyes... and by golly, yes you can see their fear of losing power.  Oh my, there's the Imperial Wizard Rush Limbaugh, Mitch "Stick a fork in me, I'm done" McConnell, John "George Hamilton look a like" Boehner, there goes Michael "He thinks he's the man of" Steele, and there is little Eric "Britney is so hot" Cantor.  What a pathetic site as they continue their downward spiral traveling the drain.  Then suddenly you hear the backwash sound from the political toilet after the big flush!  Their pinheads disappear... whoops it's over.  They've just gone under completely.

The Economic Mess?  Who Besides the George W. Bush Administration Caused it and how?

The answer:  Deregulation. OK, for anyone who would care enough to know (and be completely disgusted with) just how big of a mess we're actually in, go read Matt Taibbi's latest article for Rolling Stone: "The Big Takeover: The global economic crisis isn't about money - it's about power. How Wall Street insiders are using the bailout to stage a revolution".

Rachel Maddow: There would be no outrage about AIG's bonuses if AIG hadn't needed bailing out, right? I mean sure people get mad at fat cats with high salaries when everyone else is broke. But it's the fact that this company was using our money, taxpayers money to pay those bonuses that caused the entire country to grind our teeth down their nub ends to rage at these guys.

So there would be no outrage about AIG turning taxpayer bailout dollars into executive bonuses if there hadn't been a bailout. AIG wouldn't have needed bailing out if it weren't too big to fail, too integral to all these other parts of the financial industries. AIG wouldn't have become too big to fail if they hadn't become a big hybrid complicated uber-financial everything company that made all sorts of arcane financially engineered moves that got them squirreled into every kind of financial related business that you can think of.

AIG wouldn't have become a big hybrid complicated uber-financial everything company if there hadn't been, and this is key, deregulation of Wall Street that allowed firms to get like that. And massive deregulation of Wall Street wouldn't have happened without the rise of a political movement that preached that regulation was inherently evil and deregulation was inherently wise and virtuous and would make everyone rich and it would be free well behaved puppies for every family.

Do you want an example of how this deregulation thing worked? You can totally use this at the high school dance or a bar or whatever to try to impress someone. Somebody starts complaining about the bailout. Complaining about AIG. You tell them actually the real villain here is Gramm-Leach-Bliley. Just say it with total confidence. It's headlines like these from today that has made you the impotent party you are.  First off Cheney Shrugs: Don't Blame Us For Economic Crisis and then same day, Perino: Bush Deserves Credit For Recent Market Uptick.  You never want to take blame, or be responsible for anything negative, but you're willing to take credit even when its abundantly clear that none is due!  The Bush Co. folks use to at least stay on message and were clever enough not to have contracting messages appear, but now, hell you guys lie about any and everything.  Its a sad state of affairs for the GOP.

In the same time frame and interview by John King of CNN, Cheney told us that because of Obama's decisions on Gitmo. Enemy Combatant status and others we are now less safe... surprise!  Shocker huh? 

OK, so did John "Pussy" King ask "the dickless wonder" Cheney about Sy Hersh's claim that he had his own assassination squad? And if not, why not? That is more newsworthy than Cheney's revisionist lies, distortions, and BS to try and scare us all and try and justify torture, etc. The question is WHY doesn't the MSM especially little ass-wipes like CNN's John King ask the pertinent questions? Dick Cheney, Rummy and Bush should all be in jail... not making the talk show circuit!

His appearance on Hardball (03/11/2009) was interesting. Anyone notice dickbird Ari's statement that because of George W Bush, Saddam couldn't attack us again? The idiot said, "After 911, how could we chance Saddam wouldn't strike us again!"

My God, he and Cheney still want to confuse the people, distort the facts, revise history and disseminate total Bullshit!  Saddam? Surely he meant Osama, but I think he said Saddam... I know, I know, it's difficult keeping your lies straight, etc. He kept trying to say that Saddam was the threat and that because Bush stripped away rights of the average American, spied on us illegally, and tortured

Ari kept using the words "mind numbingly" which is obvious he is and the crème de la crème was his excuse that Bush took us to war simply due to an intelligence mistake.  He actually claimed that they never claimed Iraq had nukes... they just kept repeating mushroom cloud, etc. What a huge a$$!

Bill Maher Lambastes GOP's Hatred of Government

icon click on the pic to play This is one of the better New Rules segments I've seen from Maher in a while. He ends it with channeling Michael Moore with his criticism of insurance companies in this diatribe on the Republicans and their anti-government rhetoric and love of the private sector.

Maher:The thing is that endless variety only exists because Americans pay taxes to a government which maintains roads, irrigates fields, over sees the electrical grid and everything else but enables the modern American supermarket to carry forty seven varieties of frozen breakfast pastries.

Of course it's easy to tear government down. Ronald Reagan used to say the nine most terrifying words in the English language were "I'm from the government and I'm here to help". But that was before "I'm Sarah Palin, now show me the launch codes".

You know the stimulus package was attacked as typical tax and spend, you know like repairing bridges is left wing stuff. Ooh there the liberals go again. Always wanting to get across the river.

Folks, the people are the government. The first responders who put out your fires. That's your government. The ranger who shoos pedophiles out of the bathroom. The postman who delivers your porn. I mean how stupid is it when people say "Oh yeah that's all we need. The federal government telling Detroit how to make cars, or Wells Fargo how to run a bank. You want them to look like the Post Office?"

Yeah. Actually. You mean.. you mean the place that takes a note in my hand in L.A. on Monday and gives it to my sister in Jersey on Wednesday for forty two cents? Well let me be the first to say I would be thrilled if America's health care system was anywhere near as functional as the Post Office.

The truth is, recent years have made me much more wary of government doing the opposite. Of stepping aside and letting unregulated private enterprise run things it is plainly too greedy to trust with, like Wall Street, like rebuilding Iraq. Like the way Republicans always frame the health care debate by saying health care decisions should be made by doctors and patients, not government bureaucrats. Leaving out the fact that health decisions aren't made by doctors, patients or bureaucrats. They're made by insurance companies.

Insurance companies. Which are a lot like hospital gowns. Chances are your ass isn't covered.


Top Alaska legislators said Tuesday they're likely to accept at least most of the federal economic stimulus money that Gov. Sarah Palin did not.  Wow, I think this shows just how out of touch Six Pack Sarah is... with not just the average American, but also her own Constituents... Alaskans.

Sweet... this is ever so justified, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving political hack!
 

Controversial Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said this weekend that she wants residents of her state "armed and dangerous" over President Barack Obama's plan to reduce global warming "because we need to fight back."  Right, who needs clean air, water and crap like that.  Let's just make some a-hole rich beyond any of our dreams, just so he can keep all the money and crap in a gold toilet!  It's idiots like this bimbo that have started class warfare.

Asked about the White House-backed cap-and-trade proposal to reduce carbon emissions, Bachmann told WWTC 1280 AM, "I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us 'having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,' and the people -- we the people -- are going to have to fight back hard if we're not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States."

Bachmann also told her constituents she was "a foreign correspondent on enemy lines," sending Minnesotans warnings through her blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. "I try to let everyone back here in Minnesota know exactly the nefarious activities that are taking place in Washington."

The comments have been picked up by local blogs Smart Politics and Dump Bachmann.

Bachmann has encouraged resistance against President Obama before, saying that the Republican party needs "to do everything we can to thwart [the Democrats] at every turn to make sure that they aren't able to, for all time, secure a power base that for all time can never be defeated."

Or The  Use of the filibuster (as measured by cloture votes) Ezra Klein has a chart showing that the Republicans have already made a record number of filibusters even though we’re only half way through the Congressional term. To be clear, they are not on pace to set the record, they have already broken it.

I rather liked Kevin Drum’s assessment of the situation when he termed the current Republican Congress the Party of Nyet, noting that they were so used to filibustering absolutely everything that came down the pike that they accidentally filibustered a bill they supported, and had to scramble off autopilot to save it.

All that said, this is happening in large part because the Democrats are allowing it. As I said in my previous post this is like a fighting game where the Republicans keep doing the exact same move over and over again and we don’t deploy the necessary countermeasures. Could the media’s coverage of this be much better? Is the Republican agenda bad for the country? Did they say we were cheap when we filibustered? Of course. But I’m not going to blame them for actually bothering to play the game when we aren’t.

David Shuster calls out Michelle Bachmann for her double talk on earmarks. After claiming that she requested zero earmarks for her state Bachmann now admits she requested millions of dollars in earmarks, but now says she took them but it's not a big deal:

Bachmann: Well, the average earmark I think for the state of Minnesota for the members of Congress is somewhere around 70,000– $70 million, so mine is very, very small on that level and that’s in the first two years that was in. After I saw the way that the process worked, after being a freshman, I saw how corrupt it was and took an earmark pledge and that’s why I personally have no earmarks in the current budget bill and the stimulus bill that was passed this year.

As David Shuster notes:

Shuster: The problem is, that level is wrong. According to Legistorm in 2008 Minnesota's Congressional delegation delivered 158 earmarks costing $330 million. The average earmark from Minnesota members was not $70 million as Bachman claimed but $2.1 million which is less than the $3.7 million Bachman earmarked.

Bachmann secured $3,767,600 for her district in 2008.

As Think Progress has pointed out, the average earmark for Minnesota’s delegation is $2.1 million and the average total for earmarks is $33 million. Bachmann’s assertion that it is somewhere near $70 million is an exaggeration.

This is why I say this party has the most corrupt members and is destined to stay out of real power until it learns to select only quality people of which Bachman is not!

Exactly what do Republicans believe in?  Republicans once called themselves the party of Lincoln. Then they began to use opposition to Civil Rights as a staple of their "southern strategy". They once described themselves as defenders of freedom. Then they started supporting wiretapping and the suspension of habeas corpus rights. They once called themselves pro-business. Now they laugh at American companies that face bankruptcy.  Now they wish for the US States President to fail?  Who are the TRUE patriots... who are the REAL Americans... certainly not these modern Republicans.

U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning said his support for conservative judges may come into play shortly because one of the Supreme Court's liberal members, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, could die in less than a year from pancreatic cancer.

Ginsburg has "bad cancer. The kind that you don't get better from," the two-term Kentucky Republican said during a 30-minute Lincoln Day dinner speech Saturday in Elizabethtown, according to the Courier-Journal of Louisville.

Bunning put out a written apology on Monday, saying he did not mean to offend Ginsburg, adding "It is great to see her back at the Supreme Court and I hope she recovers quickly."

Wow, what a complete asshole!  No wonder his own party wants him out!  Watch, they will eventually float a replacement for this embarrassment!  He will have a most likely well funded primary contender... Mitch MConnell will endorse that challenger... wait and see.
